The stars about the full moon

Sappho is one of my favourite authors. I like her power of awaking one's senses.

The stars about the full moon lose their bright beauty when she, almost full,
illumines all earth with silver.

The gleaming stars all about the shining moon
Hide their bright faces, when full-orbed and splendid
In the sky she floats, flooding the shadowed earth
with clear silver light.

  1. It's amazing to realize that many of the best poems were written long time ago... this poem reminds me a song that says "your light eclipsed the moon tonight".
